HI, I'M OLIVIA ASHTON
IT WASN'T UNTIL I PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER MYSELF AND STARTED MAKING CHANGES FOR A HEALTHIER GUT, THAT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY SYMPTOMS IMPROVED.
When I was less than a year old, I underwent a surgery and blood transfusion, that resulted in several days on an IV drip antibiotic - it makes total sense why my gut health should be something I’d need to pay special attention to! But for so long, weight loss was the only thing on my mind...
I’d always struggled with symptoms of an unhealthy gut - constipation, bloating, hormone imbalances, and skin issues like eczema. After taking several rounds of antibiotics in my teenage years, I felt a drastic increase in constant and insatiable sugar cravings, which led to gaining 20 pounds.
When my doctor told me I needed to lose weight, I had no idea where to start. It was 2007 and I was a junior in high school. I’d seen my friends doing SouthBeach, Atkins, and the infamous SpecialK diet – I tried them all to no avail.
I wanted to learn how to lose weight the right way, so I went to college to become a dietitian.
Through applying the numbers I was learning in the classroom and keeping track on MyFitnessPal, I was able to lose 20lbs and have kept it off for over a decade!
BUT there were still problems…. Even after I’d lost the weight:
my cystic acne, terrible PMS, and insatiable sweet tooth were still lingering
the diet foods I was eating to keep the weight off were making me bloated on a daily basis
I was STILL struggling with stubborn belly fat
And honestly I just didn’t feel as happy as I thought I would…
I was exhausted from all of the counting, tracking, and logging. It was hard for me to even enjoy a meal because I was so preoccupied with calculating my MyFitnessPal totals at the table.
Shifting my mindset to a gut-healthy, food-inclusive approach allowed me to finally beat bloating for good, and I lost a few additional pounds in the process without even trying. When my clients start following my gut-health protocols, they almost immediately experience these benefits, too!
